bahay nakpil-bautista

Open to the public, the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista is one of the'must' places in Manila to visit, located at 432 A. Bautista (formerly Barbosa) Street, perpendicular to Hidalgo Street opposite Quiapo Church. A. Bautista Street is parallel to Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo.

The house was built by Dr. Ariston Bautista ( a doctor who discovered a drug against cholera and is a known philantropist) and his wife Petrona Nakpil. The house was designed by architect Arcadio Arellano on 1914. Here also lived Julio Nakpil, brother of Petrona who married Gregoria de Jesus (widow of Andres Bonifacio, father of the Philippine Revolution). Julio Nakpil is also the composer of the Katipunan.

The doors look like many people have passed through them. They are important doors to whose house they belong to. A nice post. I enjoyed reading it and learning something.

Yay! The thumbnail finally showed properly in the portal. But your page took forever to open compared to the others I opened at the same time. For a minute there, I thought it was going to make my computer hang. I have no idea why. Of course, maybe I just opened too many tabs at the same time. ;D

I love the door! And now I finally know who Julio Nakpil is! My aunt used to have a house along that street in Malate.
