undas

All Saints Day or Undas is solemnity celebrated on the first of November. It is instituted to honour all the saints, known and unknown, and, according to Urban IV, to supply any deficiencies in the faithful's celebration of saints' feasts during the year.

As of writing this, most filipinos are either on their way to the provinces to pay respect to their dead loved ones while some are already in the cemeteries doing vigil. Come Undas or Araw ng mga Patay expect heavy traffic, stay safe everyone.

We associate All Saints Day here with Halloween which is a Pagan kind of holiday. Little kids go out trick or treat and bring home bags of candy. It makes the dentists happy as they have a never ending supply of teeth with cavities to fill.
