hope

"I am convinced that the world is not a mere bog in which men and women trample themselves and die. Something magnificent is taking place here amidst the cruelties and tragedies, and the supreme challenge to intelligence is that of making the noblest and best in our curious heritage prevail." - C.A. Beard

veniality

To be a saint is the exception; to be upright is the rule. Err, falter, sin, but be upright. To commit the least possible sin is the law for man. Sin is a gravitation. - Victor Hugo, 'Les Miserables'

caracol festival

Caracol Festival 2010, Makati City

Caracol Festival is not a held in commemoration of patron saints, but aims to instill in the minds of the new generation the importance of preserving and conserving Philippine’s ecology and natural resources. This makes the Caracol Festival an effective campaign for environmental awareness in a form of celebration.

Caracol is a Spanish term for “snail”, since snail’s shells signify protection from life’s harsh events. It is conceived in 1986 to usher in Fiesta Islands program of the Department of Tourism in 1989. Come January 21, 1991, Caracol Festival became the official festival of Makati City with the Department of Tourism as on eof its major sponsors.

dirty ice cream

Sorbetes is a Filipino version for common ice cream usually peddled from carts that roam streets in the Philippines. This should not be confused with the known sorbet. It is also commonly called 'dirty ice cream' because it is sold along the streets exposing it to pollution and that the factory where it comes from is usually unknown; though it is not really "dirty" as the name implies. It is usually served with small wafer or sugar cones and recently, bread buns. (source: wikipedia)

But this shouldnt daunt you to taste dirty ice cream.. i am telling you dirty ice cream's delicious!!! as in yummy! :p

now it really feels like summer's here already :) Notice the man at the background with no shirt on? its already hot in here to think this photo was taken right before christmas... hmm cant imagine the sweat and heat this summer

help ma!

"help ma!" that seems to be what she's saying running away from t-rex... but dont worry folks she's safe, that t-rex behind her is just a sculpture inside rizal park's children playground which has been featured here a few times before.

bubbles

caught these bubbles at fort santiago, didn't know that you can now rent a space inside the fort santiago for occasions such as birthdays and weddings... thouyght they only do that inside "the walls" or at the gardens in intramuros... it was a nice setup though and i've always liked bubbles :)

tweaked the photo in iPhoto by clciking on enhace twice and then boost the color once and got these blue sky, the original photo has a grey sky it was a downcast afternoon when i took this photo at about 4 in the afternoon... so even though i love posting raw pictures here, sometimes enhancements are good... hmmm gotta study also image processing in photoshop :)

how about you guys, do you like digitally enhancing your photos? or you prefer raw shots?

ugu's house

this is ugu's house - of the ugu bigyan pottery which is part of the viaje del sol... the house is an art itself and if you get to see the inside everything is an art piece, well even the patio and walkways in his place are really an artist's haven.

ugu bigyan

Augusto "Ugu" Bigyan is a ceramics artist. Ugu produces dinnerware sets, decorative tiles and accent pieces for finishing walls and flooring. Aside from artistically displayed clayware, Ugu's workshop/showcase offers quaint huts with which one can relax and leisurely enjoy a lush garden trimmed with terracotta chimes, fountains and koi ponds. Meals are served but must be arranged in advance. Read more about the place here.

in the next few days i'll be posting more work of arts created by this great artist and this is one place you shouldn't miss when doing the viaje del sol tour. to those who aren't familiar with viaje del sol - viaje del sol or the way of the sun is a journey in the beautiful places of Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon... finding hidden treasures of cafes and restaurants, inns and country homes, and artist studios.  you can read my previous post in my first viaje trip two years ago here.
