I’m not sure if previous readers of this blog still visit my site and is wondering if they are just lurking or have totally forgotten about me, can’t blame them though because I have been remiss in updating and posting photos. I think I have posted from time to time that I have been busy with real life (I guess every blogger have their own real life aside from their online life, right?) and truth of the matter is, aside from being busy for various reasons, there came a time that I have lost interest in taking pictures. As if all the energy and enthusiasm I have for photography has left me to the point that there were weeks that I have not used or hold my camera which is very unusual for me. Aside from not having the time and the leisure to traverse and walk the streets of Manila, which I really miss doing, is that I have been trying to explore the beauty of the Philippines and been in constant travel, fun but exhausting.

So, I have been blogging on and off last year for various reasons, sliding from posting everyday then back to nothing at all for months. And I know I kept on saying I’ll be back but can you forgive me for being a lazy cat sometimes? Okay, I’ll admit, one of the big factors why I lost interest in blogging was because of facebook! Yes, I guess most bloggers have been ‘stolen’ by facebook and its addicting games. Yup! The games such as Farmville, yoville, café ville and other ville you can think of I’ve played them and I was even hooked on playing poker at Texas Hold ‘Em till the wee hours. Aside from that I didn’t get contented playing online, I have friends who are playing poker in real life and joined them and its really addictive and fun, though no big money is lost here except time, but they say time spent enjoying is not really wasted time. So I have addicted quite like that for a time and I’m glad im done spending my free time and should be sleeping hours playing. I’d like to think that im back into blogging but I don’t want to promise again that I am really back until I keep on posting everyday.

if you think these kids are out there in that small banca having some fun, then you are wrong... these poor kids are out there waiting for some coins... yes, coins that will be thrown their way from the ship's passengers that was slowly starting to fill up when i took this shot.  passenger's will throw coins and these kids will dive into the water to get those precious coins... for more pictures, please click here

"help ma!" that seems to be what she's saying running away from t-rex... but dont worry folks she's safe, that t-rex behind her is just a sculpture inside rizal park's children playground which has been featured here a few times before.

these kids really like this human statue at luneta, i cant remember when did i start seeing human statue at the metro but i know that this kind of entertainment have a long history in Europe.  i really do admire the patience and control of living statues and how they can keep their cool

welcome summer

summer has arrived and we have experienced really hot weather these days, and one indication that summer is here is when you see inflatable swimming pools at the streets! you read it right, inflatable pool on the streets of manila :) most houses in manila doesnt have their own pool, actually only houses at "gated village" or exclusive village" have their own pool but for most manilenyos they make do with what they have. provide an instant pool in front of their houses :) and is an instant hit with kids and adults too

meet spider boy =) hehehe actually this is my nephew and his prized spider! i said prized because he pit this spider with his playmates' spider... a favorite game by filipino kids and even adults, difference is with adults they bet money whoever wins, while with the kids you just get the losing spider as food for the spider who won. they usually put the two spiders in a stick and let them pit against each other (sabong ng gagamba) and let them wrestle and the spider who gets wrapped with webbings first lose. my nephew have a styled match box as his spiders home and constantly take care and feed dead spider and water to his spiders, right now he has about 10 spiders neatly stacked in its own boxes. since we live in a city,you cant really catch a good spider fighter but the kids can buy spiders ranging from 5-100 pesos

ang pao

Ang Pao is a red envelope or red packet that contains a monetary gift which is given during holidays or special occasions. This kid peddles ang pao outside the 168 mall for 10 pesos/pack, each pack contains 10pcs of angpao. It is sad to say and note that mostly it is children who peddles ang pao, plastic bags, sampaguita garland, etc. and sometimes even cigarettes!

PS. i dint know why instead o fthe usual V sign most people pose with, the kid crumpled his hands like that, when asked why he just smiled :)

bask in the sun

A typical morning scene at Luneta... kids enjoying the glorious early morning sunshine. Well, according to old folks the morning sun rays are good for the skin, hence my nephew is naked in this photo, basking in the sun. You would also notice in the photo a father and a son jogging, Luneta is the best place to jog i think, if you're into exercise thingy.

paluang palayok

Paluang palayok is one of the parlor games played during fiesta celebration... played by children but some adults also play this for fun. The rule of the game is similar to that of piñata, except that instead of a piñata, you have to break the clay pot or the palayok.

The palayok is usually filled with candies, coins, and flour. Why include flour?... it serves as an addition to fun because the player who cracks the pot get showered by the flour and instantly turn into a "ghost". A contestant is blindfolded and a guide will direct the player on the direction and how high is the pot. No limit of contestants here as long as the pot is not broken, kids can line up to have the chance in breaking the pot. Coaching is allowed but sometimes you just have to trust your feet and your instincts because some of the "coach" actually mislead the player. Once the pot is broken, kids immediately try to grab some candies and coins, and the winner gets his prize.

The kid in the photo is my nephew and he just smashed that pot right after this shot to the amazement of everybody. We we're so proud of him cause he hit the pot even though there were about 10 or more kids bigger than him that tried.

... hide and seek. my playful niece under the high chair saying peek-a-boo. i am always amazed by kids, they can always find ways to play and have fun even in the simplest of things.

haven't been out that much this week, so i am just posting this photo from a children's party at Max's restaurant. i can say that Max's have the best tasting fried chicken in town! sorry no picture of the delicious chicken but tomorrow i'll give you roasted chickens.
