pamantasan ng lungsod ng maynila

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), is the largest city government-funded, tuition-free, university in the Philippines. It also holds the distinction of being the first Philippine institution of higher learning to have its official name in Filipino.

Exactly ten years ago today I graduated from this school and yeah i'm a proud isko =)

Free is good. Your country offering a free tuition is great. I think all countries should educate their people free but almost none do.

didn't know that PLM is the first Philippine institution of higher learning to have its official name in Filipino. that's a distinction that you can be proud of.

a friend of mine took his masters here.

We were the first batch of students in 1967, we were the top 10% of the graduating class in our high schools in Manila. 800 out of 2000 passed the entrance test done in the Rizal Stadium. Out of 800 only 300 graduated in 1971. PLM is the only university that I know in Asia (Greece offers free college) that first offered full scholarship, free lunch (vegemeat) and encouraged students to practice yoga. I finished by BBE and MBA at PLM which enabled me to be a Division Chief at the previous MMC now MMDA. Because of PLM, I became an analyst in the United States and was able to retire and now will continue working. We had Associate in Arts and had to take entrance test in the university we chose. I was the 3rd in the entrance test of the first nursing class. It was not for me, so I proceeded to do BBE. We were 13 only in class, that we never experienced lining up everytime we enroll. Alma Moreno and Dolphy had shootings at the PLM and nobody bothered her. Alma and I were the only ones in the toilet on the second floor. We had parties after every semester, field trips to Los Banos and got stranded in a camping trip at Corregidor, the LST ship forgot to pick us up. But we did not get scared, just continued swimming and going around corregidor. That was the best time of my life, it was hard every semester, trying to keep the average and avoid being kicked out. We had the best professors, pirated by the President from UP, Mrs Arespacochaga was the scariest. We had free uniforms and gifts during Christmas. It was not so well known,a lot thought it was Manila High School. I was hired at DAP, wherein they only hired people from UP and APO. My co workers were all from UP and assumed I was from UP, too. I became a Division Chief and my staff were all from UP. I continued to do a Master's in Urban Planning at UP. I am experiencing a very good life here in the United States and I owe it all to the best school in Manila, PLM. I hope I can give it back in some way. Thanks to Mayor Villegas, too.

Why is there an ugly structure at the front of the building, it is so ugly. Take it out please. All graduates of PLM should have a life insurance and an amount set aside for PLM, because I did. This is to help other poor students from Manila who wants to improve their lives through higher educaction. I even got an acceptance at MIT her in USA and received a scholarship from the Dutch Government for Urban Planning and these is all because I graduated from PLM.

Anybody knows JUDY BERNARDINO, WHO GRADUATED AT PAMANTASAN NG LUNSOD NG MAYNILA, SUMA CUM LAUDE DAW? GRADUATED 1989?

My husband and I graduated from PLM(different colleges). My husband and I are very thankful for the free tuition fee but there's no more free lunch or free gifts on Christmas at our time. Most of us who graduated got accepted at UP-PGH eventhough some of us doesn't have our licenses yet(not 21 y.o.but board passer).UP-PGH only accepts graduates from UP and PLM.Class 89 started with 6 or 8 blocks (sorry, I can't seem to remember)but only 72 (I'm sure of that and I'm lucky to be one of them)made it to graduation.

There will be a grand reunion from the first batch 1967, how can we buy the program if we are not able to come. What I did was I set aside an amount from my Living Trust for PLM when I die. Just to give back the good life PLM gave me. It should be done by graduates of PLM if they can afford, this way PLM can continue to provide the best education to the intelligent poor students of Manila.

I was a graduate of PLM with the following degrees: BSBA-Economics (1985); BBM (1990); and MBA (1993). I am so happy to say that because the US Embassy in Manila gave our school a modest ranking, I did not have a hard time getting accepted at the Harvard Law School and Kennedy School of Government for my ITP-MPA/MC (Master in Public Administration - International Tax Program, Mid-career). I graduated in 2000.
